Mi Perfil
Mi nombre es Frances Osborn. Soy nativa de Inglaterra, pero con 18 años de residencia en Venezuela. Realicé un doctorado en Ciencias Biológicas en la Universidad Simón Bolívar, para luego aceptar un cargo en la Universidad de Oriente, donde trabajé durante 10 años en investigación en Biología, específicamente en el área de Control de Plagas.
En diciembre 2007, renuncié mi cargo de Profesora para comenzar a trabajar en traducciones del español al inglés a tiempo completo.

Para la realización de traducciones precisas y fluidas es necesario, en primer lugar, tener un excelente dominio de ambos idiomas, y en segundo lugar, tener un conocimiento íntimo del material a traducir.
Es por ello que restrinjo las traducciones que realizo a español » inglés, las revisiones (*) a manuscritos en inglés, y cualquier trabajo altamente técnico al área de biología y áreas afines (aunque por supuesto puedo realizar traducciones generales en todas las áreas).
Debido a mi carrera como investigadora en la biología, conozco muy bien las terminologías técnicas y científicas utilizadas en ambos idiomas. También entiendo todos los pasos que hay que seguir para lograr la publicación de un manuscrito en una revista científica – ya que también he publicado. Por lo tanto conozco las necesidades de un investigador respecto al proceso de publicación.
En el ámbito comercial, la información a traducir (o revisar) está frecuentemente sujeta a modificaciones o actualizaciones en el tiempo. Eso es el caso de las páginas web donde a veces hay que cambiar o añadir información a la misma. Es por ello que ofrezco paquetes anuales tomando en cuenta las necesidades de los clientes.

Who am I?
My name is Frances Osborn. I´m English born and bred, but have been living in Venezuela for the past 18 years. After doing a doctorate in Biological Sciences at the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas, I accepted a position as lecturer at the Universidad de Oriente in northeastern Venezuela where I worked for 10 years on the ecology of insect pests and biological pest control.
In December 2007 I left the university in order to start work as a full time translator.

What do I offer?
In order that a translation be both accurate and natural sounding, it is necessary, in the first place, to have an excellent command of both languages in your chosen language pair, and secondly, to have an intimate knowledge of the material to be translated.
For this reason, I restrict the translations I do to Spanish » English, the revisions* to texts written in English, and any job using highly technical language to biological texts and texts in related subjects (although I can of course do general translations in any area).
As a researcher with 15 years worth of publishing experience, I write well in scientific English, and am familiar with the scientific and technical terminology used. I am also familiar with the whole process a researcher has to go through in order to successfully publish an article in a scientific journal, and am thus aware of the particular needs that he or she might have.
At the commercial level, the information to be translated (or corrected) is frequently subject to modifications and updates. This is especially the case with web pages where information may have to be changed or added several times during the year. Bearing this in mind, I offer annual packages to clients that take into account the dynamic nature of their translation needs.
With this in mind, I offer:
